Beaudiene Blinkz is airborne for driver Jack Mackinnon turning for home at Pukekohe today.

Blink and you’ll miss her, but petite Beaudiene filly is on an improving curve

Petite filly Beaudiene Blinkz showed she was tracking the right way for a start in the first Young Guns race for fillies with a smart all-the-way win at the Pukekohe workouts today.

The sister to top performers Beaudiene Bad Babe and Beaudiene Boaz was having just her third workout since arriving from Southland.

But once taken to the top by driver Jack Mackinnon she never looked like being run down, scooting her last 400 in 28 flat to record 2:07.3 for the mile.

At the line she held a three and a half length margin over Brent Mangos’ Love Letters with a neck and a nose to fellow Lincoln Farms’ runners Copy That and Super Easy.

The first $25,000 Young Guns event for fillies will be run at Alexandra Park on January 18, a target also for Lincoln Farms’ own filly Hilary Barry.

“Beaudiene Boaz was a bit like her. He was OK, not always the best, but as the season went on he just got better and better. Hopefully she’ll do the same. She’s certainly a little trier.’’

Green developed Beaudiene Boaz, winning three races with the colt, including the 2014 Two-Year-Old Harness Jewels at Cambridge, before his sale to Perth where he has now won 25 races and A$1.25 million.

Beaudiene Blinkz, who is owned by Southland breeder David Kennedy, is also by Badlands Hanover, making her a full sister to Beaudiene Bad Babe who also won a Harness Jewels at Cambridge in 2010, one of her 22 wins.

American Ideal colt Copy That put in some telling strides late for Andre Poutama despite racing very keenly again and getting his tongue over the bit.

“He’s ignorant but he can go.’’

Super Easy was in the trail on the home turn, and jogging, according to driver Andrew Sharpe, when he lost his gait for no reason.

He came back into a pace after eight strides and did well to run on, with the last 800 cut out in 60.7, but skipped again just after the post.

Friday night at Auckland

Race 5: Lincoln Lover
6.49pm

“You can’t fault what he’s done in his last four starts - he hasn’t missed a cheque. He’s raced at Auckland before as a two-year-old against good horses so it shouldn’t be too daunting for him. He’ll go an honest race, it’s just whether he’s good enough.”

Race 7: The Night Fox
7.57pm

Nathan Delany: “He had to trial on Tuesday after hitting the gate and breaking at Cambridge and I was happy with how he went. He ran Dear God to half a length in 2:38, and got home in 27.3. I’ll tell Harry to have one run at them and he should beat them for speed. Hopefully they run along a bit and he’ll sprint straight past them.”

Race 7: Lincoln Maree
7.57pm

“She lacks a bit of speed but she’s a rough chance.”

Race 8: Lincoln Linda
8.24pm

“It’s her first start for five months and she hasn’t trialled but she’s training well. She has plenty of ability and there’s nothing wonderful in the race. In the past she’s been her own worst enemy, a lunatic at times, but she seems more settled this time in. You could say I’m hopeful more than confident.”

Race 8: Rivergirl Bella
8.24pm

“She has a bit of speed. She hasn’t been strong but seems to have developed a bit more this time in and is training quite well. I don’t think there’s much between her and Lincoln Linda.”
