Lincoln Moonlight is powering home late into third after being held up in the run home

Lincoln Moonlight a black booker

Promising Lincoln Farms’ colt Lincoln Moonlight will be hard to beat at his next start, tips leading trainer Shane Baertschiger.

Lincoln Moonlight did everything Baertschiger expected at Kranji last Sunday, powering home for third in only his second raceday start after being held up for a run mid-stretch.

Baertschiger liked the way his Alamosa colt took ground late off Mach and Hugo in the 1200 metre event which he suspected might be too short for him.

“He’s crying out for more ground and he’ll get that in his next start over 1400 metres on October 21.

“He wasn’t helped at the start either when he was kept standing in the gates for a long time and was a tad slow out.’’

Further back in the field than planned, Lincoln Moonlight ended losing more ground soon after when he had to be eased off the heels of a rival after being carried inwards.

“He’ll be hard to beat next time.’’

Longer term, Baertshiger is eyeing the rich Three-Year-Old Challenge series with Lincoln Moonlight, which starts in March.

Lincoln Moonlight has run third in both his starts and has already earned S$16,447.
