Red light flashing on Master Lincoln as he dashes home in Levin jumpout

Master Lincoln showed he was forward to resume at Awapuni next Saturday with a bold jumpout at Levin on Wednesday.

One of eight Lincoln Farms horses trainer Lisa Latta took to the jumpouts, Master Lincoln got back in the open 1000 metre heat for rider Robbie Hannam but really flew down the outside late to finish a close second to Handful in a time of 58.8.

“That will clean him up nicely for Awapuni,’’ says Latta. “He’s only a one win horse but he’s a lot stronger this time in and will eventually get up over ground.’’

The three-year-old All Too Hard gelding did best of the Lincoln Farms’ runners, winning his 1000 metre heat.

Lincoln Fury jumped well for Hannam and sat outside the leader before kicking nicely at the 200 metres to win quite nicely.

“His coat isn’t quite there yet so he will need another jumpout on November 7 then he will be ready for a 1400 metre race first-up,’’ says Latta.

“He should pick up a maiden win very quickly. But he will really hit his straps in the autumn. He’s a neat type with a nice way of moving.’’

Lincoln Fury, an $80,000 read to run buy, raced only twice as a two-year-old.

Ridden by Tim Johnson the athletic Savabeel gelding got back second last and was left a little flat-footed at the 600 metre mark when the leaders quickened.

“He was doing his best work late out wide and will really improve with the run. He will also head back to the jumpouts on the 7th.

“He’s really improved this time in and is bred to stay.’’

A $260,000 premier sale graduate, Lincoln Lane looks to have a bright future.

“He sat in the trail on the fence and maintained a strong run to the line,’’ says Latta.

“He is still carrying a fair bit of condition so will head back to the jumpouts on November 7 and that will clean him up nicely for the races.’’

Lincoln Sky is out of the O’Reilly mare Dating, third top filly on the 2009-10 Free Handicap.

Alamosa mare Alesha Lincoln ran third in her 1000 metre heat, put under no pressure.

“She sat second in the running and was a bit above herself,’’ says Latta. “She pulled quite hard and will really benefit from the run.

“She has strengthened up a lot. I would like to give her another jumpout, and ride her a bit quieter, to see if she can really get home.’’

“Platinum Spirit was slow to jump and stayed back, quite timid of the other horses.

“Bruce (Herd) rode him and felt he needed another jumpout or trial. If he comes through the run well, he will back up at the trials next week.

“Platinum Bordeaux got back in the same heat and quickened up without threatening to finish just in behind the first three.’’

Latta plans to back up the Per Incanto filly at the trials as well.

Abe Lincoln was slow to jump in his heat and just went around.

“Tim said his action didn’t feel 100 percent and now he is back at the stable feeling very sorry for himself as his shins are sore. He will head to the paddock for six weeks.’’

“He’s working really well. I’ve just been waiting for a bit of rain. He’s reasonably fit but this is really just a run round. He won’t be disgraced but a mile (1650m) is not his go and I‘ll be happy if he runs midfield.”
